LIS Virtual - massive point cloud data processing

This package contains tools for virtual point cloud data sets (an XML-based description of a mosaic of point clouds allowing seamless data access), including tools for spatial subset extraction (clipping), retiling, gridding and thinning. Virtual point cloud data sets can be used both for data dissemination and processing of mass data.


Tool: Create Tileshape from Virtual Point Cloud

Features
• creation of a polygon shapefile with the bounding boxes of the data sets included in a virtual point cloud data set
• attributes besides geometry: file path, filename, number of points
Application
• creation of a shapefile showing the spatial extent of the tiles contained in a virtual point cloud data set

Tool: Create Virtual Point Cloud Dataset

Features
• creation of a virtual point cloud dataset from a set of SAGA point cloud files
• input point cloud data sets must share the same attribute table structure, NoData value and projection
Application
• creation of a virtual point cloud data set for seamless data access to massive point cloud data

Tool: Get Grid from Virtual Point Cloud

Features
• creation of a grid from a virtual point cloud data set
• area-of-interest (AOI): polygon shapefile, grid, or coordinates
• addition of an overlap, optional
• aggregation methods: highest or lowest attribute value
• query can be constrained by an attribute value range, e.g., only ground points
• one output data set per polygon in the polygon shapefile

• creation of raster products for dissemination (automated re-tiling)
• creation of overviews (drastic reduction of the amount of memory required for visualization)
• creation of raster tiles (with overlap) for mass data processing
