LIS City Modeller - building models

The package contains tools for the automatic delineation of building footprints (LOD0) and building models (LOD1 and LOD2) from point cloud data. Applications are map layers and 3D city models, which can be enriched with further information.


Tool: Derive LOD0/1 Building Models

Features
• creation of polygonal shapes of buildings from a classified and segmented point cloud
• polygonal shapes can be constructed in two levels of detail: LOD0 (building footprint) and LOD1 (building block model)
• line simplification and polygon rectification
• courtyard detection (based on minimum size)
• output: 2D polygonal shapefile LOD0 (with building statistics, e.g., building area)
• output: 3D polygonal shapefile LOD1 (with building statistics, e.g., building volume)

Tool: Derive LOD2 Building Models

Features
• creation of LOD2 building models (with roof structure) from a point cloud with segmented building roofs and a raster DTM
• optional input: existing ground plan as polygon shapefile (can be used to support the extrusion of building walls)
• optional input: existing building footprints (can be used to support building alignment)
• data driven modelling of the building roof structure (no usage of roof templates)
• line simplification and polygon rectification
• courtyard detection (based on minimum size)
• output: 3D polygonal shapefile LOD2 with building attributes

• derivation of realistic 3D building models
• map layers and 3D city models
• 3D visualization products, e.g. for architecture, spatial planning, tourism, virtual reality, gaming
